Today is Wednesday, December 11, 2024, 6:00 am MST. At report time, we are currently RDMO (“Rig Down Move Out”) Rig 88.
Moving Rig 88 from the Found Soldier Federal #1 location to the Jeffrey City yard (≈12 miles) takes between 60 and 70 truckloads to move a rig this size off location.

Yesterday, Jacek recorded one final video of the rig move.
The first part of the video is a time-lapse recording of many of the rig's pieces and parts that must be disassembled and readied for trucking.
The second part of the video features Earl Sanford, Vice President of Lost Soldier Drilling LLC, with a brief summary of what we have “found” on the Found Soldier Federal #1.
Some encouraging words, indeed!

The video concludes with a time-lapse lowering of the derrick – quite impressive!

Subject: Found Soldier Federal #1 - FINAL REPORT

 

Good Morning Everyone!
Today is Monday, December 9, 2024, 6:00 am MST. At report time, we are currently RDMO (“Rig Down Move Out”) Rig 88.
Yesterday, we ND (“Nipple Down”) the BOP stack and NU (“Nipple Up”) the wellhead.
This doesn’t sound like much until you actually see the nuts and bolts of what these rig hands do.
Please refer to the two attached pictures.
The red flange on top is what we call a “blind” flange since the well has not been completed. It is only temporary.
Right below blind flange is the C Section, here, the 4½” production casing is seated and hung off.
Right below C Section is the B Section, here, the 7” intermediate casing is seated and hung off.
Below the B Section is the bradenhead which is welded onto the 9 5/8” surface casing. It is barely visible at the bottom of the stack.
All of the wellhead components shown in the pictures are rated to 10,000 psi working pressure.
They are held together with (16), one foot long, 1½” diameter bolts, each one with a nut on top and bottom.
It takes almost 8 hours for 2 to 4 hands to “NU the wellhead” in 25⁰F weather.
Current plans are:

1. Haul off mud and clean pits.

1. RDMO Rig 88 to Jeffrey City yard.

Well, folks, that’s about it!
This will be the FINAL REPORT for the well!
We have had our ups and downs during the well, but we have gained some very valuable information along the way that will be of great benefit in upcoming wells.
We have gained some very encouraging data from the Shannon 5 and also what appears to be a new productive zone in the Shannon 1 section!
Will spend the winter researching the data from the rotary sidewall cores and evaluating the open hole logs to optimize future development plans in 2025 and beyond.

Today is Sunday, December 8, 2024, 6:00 am MST. At report time, we have finished running and successfully cementing the 4½” OD production casing!
Bumped the plug at 6:00 am MST. Held 3,500 psi on casing for 30 minutes.
Bottom of the casing is set at 15,707’ MD (15,712’ TD).

Good Morning Everyone!

Today is Saturday, December 7, 2024, 6:00 am MST. At report time, we are running in the hole with 4½” OD production casing.
Bottom of the casing shoe is currently at 2,126’.

Yesterday, on bottom at 15,712’ MD, we circulated and conditioned mud, then spent the rest of the day (and night) POOH LDDP (“Pull Out Of Hole   Lay Down Drill Pipeline").
It took 20 hours to POOH laying down 3.0 miles of drill pipe, 30’ at a time.
Today, will spend most of the day (and night) running casing and circulating/conditioning mud at staged intervals.

Current plans are:

1. Run 4½” production casing
2. Cement
3. RDMO Rig 88 to Jeffrey City yard.

The list is getting shorter

Today’s video topic focuses on the rotary sidewall coring logging tools that were run in the hole (Part 1).
We ran the tool hoping to recover the maximum 75 cores, however; the core barrel jammed after core #45.
Decision was made to forego remaining 30 cores for the sake of time.
This video focuses on the preparation of the tool itself prior to being run in the hole.
Part 2 will be sent tomorrow.
In the Part 2 video, Steve Richards will explain more of the technical aspects of the process.

Good Morning Everyone!

Today is Friday, December 6, 2024, 6:00 am MST. At report time, we are currently on bottom at 15,712’ MD, circulating and conditioning mud, preparing to POOH LDDP (“Pull Out Of Hole   Lay Down Drill Pipeline").
Had a good 10’ flare on bottoms up.
Yesterday we finished POOH with the bit and reaming BHA.
RU and ran FMI/SS tool (“Formation Magnetic Imager / Sonic Scanner”) from 15,712’ MD TD to casing at 12,670’.
The FMI tool is the exact same technology used in hospitals today to record internal images of the human body, except here, it is used to record images of the inside of the borehole.
It takes a picture of the inside of the wellbore and lays it out flat as shown below.
This data further defines fractured intervals, identifies fault systems, and determines many other geological features.

All of those wiggles and their dimensions have different meanings and engineering values for determining various rock properties.

Data is used for seismic depth correlations and the design of hydraulic fracturing procedures.

Current plans are:

2. Run 4½” production casing
3. Cement
4. RDMO Rig 88 to Jeffrey City yard.

Today is Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 6:00 a.m. MST. At report time, we are out of the hole, changing out a Schlumberger logging tool.
Yesterday we finished POOH with the bit and reaming BHA.
RU rotary sidewall coring tool and RIH to 15,712’ MD TD.
We spent the next 18 hours taking and retrieving 45 rotary cores (1” diameter x 2” length) before the core barrel jammed.

We are currently preparing to run the FMI/SS tool (“Formation Magnetic Imager / Sonic Scanner”)

2024 12 04 Logging Instruments Part 1 - Steve Richards

Today is Wednesday, December 4, 2024, 6:00 am MST. At report time, we are currently POOH with bit and reamer BHA used to clean and condition the hole.
Yesterday we made two logging runs to TD at 15,712 MD TD.
We tagged up on the third logging run, just below intermediate casing @ 12,670’.
We still have three very important logging runs to make, therefore; we need to make at least one, maybe two, bit trips to condition the hole.
It should be out of the hole and running logs by Noon today.
Will be logging most of the day.

Current plans are:

1. Finish POOH with bit and cleanout BHA.
2. Finish running open hole logs and taking sidewall cores
3. TIH with bit & drill pipe
4. Circulate and condition mud to run 4½” casing.
5. POOH LDDP (“Pull Out Of Hole   Lay Down Drill Pipeline")
6. Run 4½” production casing cement
7. RDMO Rig 88 to Jeffrey City yard.

Below is a brief synopsis by Steve Richards of what we know to date:

1.        Key producing zones encountered on the first well (Green Mountain Federal #4) are all present in the Found Soldier Federal #1 (1,700’ to the NW).
2.        Shannon 5 target zone is ~110’ thick, which is close to that predicted by seismic.  This means our seismic interpretation is confirmed and realistic.
3.        Shannon 5 thickness goes from 110’ here to 140’ at the Green Mountain well and becomes 180’ thick South of that well, therefore;
our planned 2025 horizontals drilling from North to South should be very good producers.
4.        Lance zone is thinner, as predicted by seismic, but still has good reservoir quality and gas shows.
5.        A new zone in the Shannon 1 is present that gave us one of our largest gas spikes in the well.
This zone looks to be a laminated sand and is ~170’ thick.  This is a new target that was not present in the first well.
6.        Initial images recorded show that there are fractures in the Shannon 5 target.
7.        Initial images also show the stress direction is east/west, which means we will drill the horizontals North/South.  This is the same as the Green Mountain well.

Still to come are the sonic (fracture log / Frac design log), FMI imager, Lithoscanner (lithology), Magnetic resonance (permeability), and 75 sidewall cores.
Will take rotary sidewall cores on the first run, then continue with sonic logs.
