2024 12 05 Future Potential Steve Richards & Marc Bruner
Today is Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 6:00 a.m. MST. At report time, we are out of the hole, changing out a Schlumberger logging tool.
Yesterday we finished POOH with the bit and reaming BHA.
RU rotary sidewall coring tool and RIH to 15,712’ MD TD.
We spent the next 18 hours taking and retrieving 45 rotary cores (1” diameter x 2” length) before the core barrel jammed.
Below, is a link to an animation of the rotary sidewall coring tool and process.
A truly remarkable piece of technology!

We are currently preparing to run the FMI/SS tool (“Formation Magnetic Imager / Sonic Scanner”)
Two more truly remarkable pieces of technology!
The FMI tool is the exact same technology used in hospitals today to record internal images of the human body, except here, it is used to record images of the inside of the borehole.
More on this tool later.
We will make an FMI/SS logging run while another rotary coring tool is being hot shotted to location.
Will be logging most of the day.
Picture attached.
More to follow……….
Current plans are:- Finish running open hole logs and taking sidewall cores
- TIH with bit & drill pipe
- Circulate and condition mud to run 4½” casing.
- POOH LDDP (“Pull Out Of Hole Lay Down Drill Pipeline")
- Run 4½” production casing
- Cement
- RDMO Rig 88 to Jeffrey City yard.
Today’s video topic focuses on the actual logging tools run in the Hole (Part 1) by Steve Richards.
Enjoy!!
